چکیده

In this second in a series of four articles we create a mathematical formalism sufficient to represent nontrivial hamiltonian quantum dynamics, including resonances. Some parts of this construction are also mathematically necessary. The specific construction is the transforming of a pair of quantized free oscillators into a resonant system of coupled oscillators by analytic continuation which is performed algebraically by the group of complex symplectic transformations, thereby creating dynamical representations of numerous semi-groups. The quantum free oscillators are the quantum analogue of classical action angle variable solutions for the coupled oscillators and quantum resonances, including Breit-Wigner resonances. Among the exponentially decaying Breit-Wigner resonances represented by Gamow vectors are hamiltonian systems in which energy transfers from one oscillator to the other. There are significant mathematical constraints in order that complex spectra be accommodated in a well defined formalism which represents dynamics, and these may be met by using the commutative real algebra C(1, i) as the ring of scalars in place of the field of complex numbers. These mathematical constraints compel use of fundamental (spinor) representations rather than UIR’s. By including distributional solutions to the Schrödinger equation, placing us in a rigged Hilbert space, and by using the Hamiltonian as a generator of canonical transformation of the space of states, the Schrödinger equation is the equation for parallel transport of generalized energy eigenvectors, explicitly establishing the Hamiltonian as the generator of dynamical time translations in this formalism.

Generalized Wavefunctions for Correlated Quantum Oscillators III: Chaos, Irreversibility

In this third of a series of four articles, we continue the study of the representations of the dynamical transformations of systems of correlated quantized oscillators. By including generalized wave function solutions to Schrödinger’s equation (belonging to a rigged Hilbert space), and by considering the algebra of observables as a whole, the presence of Devaney chaos, hyperbolic quasi-invaria...

Generalized Wavefunctions for Correlated Quantum Oscillators IV: Bosonic and Fermionic Gauge Fields

The hamiltonian quantum dynamical structures in the Gel’fand triplets of spaces used in preceding installments to describe correlated hamiltonian dynamics on phase space by quasi-invariant measures are shown to possess a covering structure, which is constructed explicitly using the properties of Clifford algebras. The unitary Clifford algebra is constructed from the intersection of the orthogon...

Generalized Wavefunctions for Correlated Quantum Oscillators I: Basic Formalism and Classical Antecedants

In this first of a series of four articles, it is shown how a hamiltonian quantum dynamics can be formulated based on a generalization of classical probability theory using the notion of quasi-invariant measures on the classical phase space for our description of dynamics. This is based on certain distributions rather than invariant Gibbs measures. The first quantization is by functorial analyt...

Field Theory of the Fractional Quantum Hall Effect - I

We present a Chern-Simons (CS) theory for fractional quantum Hall states, in which flux attachment is followed by an enlargement of Hilbert space to include n magneto-plasmon oscillators and n constraints, n being the number of electrons. The simplest approximation yields correlated wavefunctions for fractions ν = p/(2ps + 1). For ν = 1/(2s + 1) we obtain multi-quasihole wavefunctions with corr...

Phase Space Isometries and Equivariant Localization of Path Integrals in Two Dimensions

By considering the most general metric which can occur on a contractable two dimensional symplectic manifold, we find the most general Hamiltonians on a two dimensional phase space to which equivariant localization formulas for the associated path integrals can be applied. We show that in the case of a maximally symmetric phase space the only applicable Hamiltonians are essentially harmonic osc...
